How to Delete Instagram Messages?

To delete an Instagram message, follow these steps:

Step 1:

Open your Instagram and go to your Direct Messages by tapping the “Paper Airplane” icon in the top right corner.

Step 2:

Select the chat tab that contains the message you want to delete.

Step 3:

Find your targeted message and press and hold on to it. Tap “Unsend” from the pop-up menu. The message will be removed from the sender and recipient’s chat history.

Limitations and Restrictions of Unsending Instagram Message Feature

The unsend feature allows users to delete messages within the past 10 minutes. Once this time limit has passed, the message cannot be unsent.

It only works for messages sent through Instagram’s Direct Message (DM) feature. It does not work for messages posted as comments or stories.

The message can be unsend between two users in a Direct Message conversation. It does not work for messages sent in group chats.

The Unsend Message feature cannot return a message that has expired and been deleted.
