ContentStudio's free Facebook username generator produces username and page name ideas for Facebook profiles, business pages, and groups based on keywords, your name, or your niche. Enter a word or theme and the tool generates multiple name options suited for personal accounts and brand pages. If you manage Facebook content regularly, a Facebook scheduling tool keeps publishing organized alongside your profile setup.

How to Use the Facebook Username Generator

  1. Enter a keyword, your name, your business category, or a theme you want the username to reflect.
  2. Select whether you need a personal username, a business page name, or a group name.
  3. The tool generates multiple options based on your input.
  4. Copy the ones you want to check for availability on Facebook before using them.

Username and page name availability must be confirmed on Facebook directly. The generator produces ideas; whether a specific name is taken depends on what is currently registered on the platform.

Facebook Page Name Generator

A Facebook page name is the publicly displayed name of your business page, distinct from the username/URL. The page name appears in the header of your page, in search results, and when people share your page.

Facebook page names have different rules from usernames:

Page name length: Facebook allows up to 75 characters for a page name. Most effective page names are much shorter 20 to 40 characters for clarity in search results and mobile display.

Allowed characters: Page names can include spaces, which usernames cannot. "Blue Horizon Photography" is a valid page name; "@bluehorizonphotography" is the associated username.

Page name changes: Facebook restricts how often a page name can be changed, particularly for pages with large followings. Renaming a page with over a certain number of followers requires submitting a request that Facebook reviews.

Facebook page name style: Several queries in this page's data look specifically for page name style guidance on how to format and present a page name for credibility and discoverability. Page names that include the business category in the name perform better in Facebook search than pure brand names without context, especially for new pages with limited following.

Facebook Page Username Availability: How to Check

Facebook username availability can only be confirmed on Facebook's platform:

For personal profiles:

  1. Go to your Facebook profile.
  2. Click the three-dot menu below your cover photo and select Edit profile.
  3. Scroll to the username field and type your desired username.
  4. Facebook shows real-time availability as you type.

For pages:

  1. Go to your Facebook Page.
  2. Click the Page settings (gear icon or Settings menu).
  3. Find the Username section and type your desired username.
  4. Facebook confirms whether the username is available.

Via URL check: Type facebook.com/yourusername directly in a browser. If a profile or page appears, the username is taken. A "page not found" result suggests availability, though recently deactivated accounts may temporarily hold usernames.

What is a Facebook username?

A Facebook username is the custom text identifier that replaces the numeric ID in your profile URL. Once set, your Facebook profile URL becomes facebook.com/yourusername instead of facebook.com/100012345678. It is also called a vanity URL or custom URL on Facebook.

Facebook usernames allow letters (A to Z), numbers (0 to 9), and periods (.). Spaces, underscores, hyphens, and special characters are not permitted. Periods are ignored by Facebook's system and cannot be used to differentiate between similar usernames.

Yes. Go to Settings, then General account settings, and click Edit next to Username. Personal profiles can change usernames, though Facebook may impose limits on frequency. Pages have their own username change process in Page Settings.

The Facebook name (or display name) is the text shown on your profile or page, your full name or business name, which can include spaces and up to 50 characters for personal profiles. The username is the unique URL identifier with no spaces, at least 5 characters, and following the stricter character rules. Both fields are set separately in your profile or page settings.

Common reasons include: the username is already taken, the username is fewer than 5 characters, the username contains a disallowed character (underscore, hyphen, or space), or your account is too new (Facebook sometimes requires accounts to be established before allowing custom usernames). Check each of these conditions before trying an alternative.

Go to your Facebook Page, open Page Settings, and find the Username field. Type your desired username and Facebook confirms availability in real time. The page username follows the same character rules as personal profile usernames: letters, numbers, and periods only, with a minimum 5 characters.
