ContentStudio's free QR code generator creates QR codes for URLs, text, contact information, email addresses, phone numbers, and SMS messages. Enter your data, customize the appearance, and download the QR code in your preferred format. No account required, no email needed. For teams running social media campaigns that include QR codes in physical and digital materials, ContentStudio handles the publishing workflow alongside the tool.
A URL QR code encodes a web address so that anyone who scans it goes directly to that page. To create one:
Using UTM parameters on QR code URLs: For campaign tracking, add UTM parameters to the URL before encoding it. For example: https://yoursite.com/page?utm_source=print&utm_medium=qr_code&utm_campaign=event_2026. This allows your analytics platform to report how many visits came from the QR code specifically.
QR Code Formats:
The download format determines how the QR code can be used:
PNG: A raster image file. Best for digital use — websites, emails, social media posts, and presentations. PNG quality decreases if the image is scaled up beyond its original dimensions.
SVG: A vector format. Best for print materials — flyers, posters, packaging, and large-format printing. SVG files scale to any size without quality loss. Use SVG whenever the QR code will appear in print.
PDF: A document format. Useful for embedding QR codes in contracts, forms, and documents that will be shared or printed as PDFs.
For any QR code that will be printed, download SVG or use a high-resolution PNG (minimum 300 DPI equivalent for the intended print size).
QR codes do not have to be black and white. Customization options on the generator include:
Colors: Change the foreground color (the dark modules) and background color. Keep sufficient contrast between foreground and background — low contrast codes (light grey on white, or dark blue on black) may fail to scan. Test any color-customized code with multiple devices before finalizing.
Logo: Add a logo to the center of the QR code. QR codes have built-in error correction that allows a portion of the code to be obscured while remaining scannable. The logo should not cover more than 30% of the code area for reliable scanning.
Pattern and corner styles: Some generators allow adjusting the shape of the modules (square, rounded, dots) and the corner finder patterns. These changes affect visual style while maintaining scan functionality.
Always test customized QR codes across multiple scanner apps and devices. A code that scans on one app may fail on another if contrast or error correction level is set too low.

SVG is the best format for print because it is a vector file that scales to any size without quality loss. For print materials like flyers, posters, or packaging, always use SVG or a PNG at minimum 300 DPI for the intended print size.
Yes. QR codes use error correction that allows a portion of the pattern to be covered. Keep the logo under 30% of the total code area and test the result across multiple devices after adding it. A logo that is too large will cause scan failures.
Static QR codes — which encode information directly in the pattern — do not expire. They will function as long as the destination URL exists. Dynamic QR codes (where the code points to a redirect that can be updated) depend on the service maintaining the redirect URL. ContentStudio's generator creates static QR codes.
Static QR codes encode a specific URL at the time of creation. If the destination URL changes or the page is removed, the QR code will lead to a broken page or redirect. For campaigns where the destination might change, use a URL shortener or redirect service in the QR code link so you can update the destination without recreating the code.
