How to schedule Instagram post with first comment

Step-by-step guide to schedule Instagram posts with First Comment:

Access the Composer

From your ContentStudio Dashboard, go to the Composer and select Social Post.

Select your Instagram account

Choose the Instagram account(s) where you want to publish your post.

Upload your media

Add your image or video directly from your device, Media Library, or cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox for easy access.

Add captions with AI help

Use ContentStudio’s AI Caption Generator to help you write an engaging caption. You can:

  • Add keywords or describe your post
  • Adjust tone and word count
  • Include or exclude hashtags and emojis
  • Generate multiple variations to choose from

Once satisfied, add your chosen caption to the Post Composer.

Add your First Comment

Turn the toggle of the First Comment section and enter additional hashtags, links, or a prompt to spark engagement. You can use your pre-saved hashtags settings for this and add UTM to your links. This keeps your main caption clean while boosting engagement and reach.

Adjust Instagram settings

When preparing your post in ContentStudio, select the appropriate post type based on your content:

  • Reels: Single video only (MOV or MP4), up to 1GB, duration 3 seconds to 15 minutes, recommended 9:16 aspect ratio. Note: Reels posted this way will not appear in your Instagram feed.
  • Feed + Reel: Single video only (MOV or MP4), up to 1GB, duration 3 seconds to 15 minutes, recommended 9:16 aspect ratio. Selecting this option ensures your video appears both as a Reel and in your feed.
  • Feed (Single Image): One image (JPEG or PNG), max 8MB, dimensions 1350x1080.
  • Carousel: Up to 10 images and/or videos. Images: JPEG/PNG, max 8MB. Videos: MOV/MP4, max 100MB, duration 3–60 seconds. 

You can also add up to 3 collaborators as long as the accounts are public.

Schedule your post

Choose your preferred posting date and time, and hit Schedule!

Why use the First Comment feature?

First comment is useful in posting because you can add your hashtags or CTAs in the first comment, keeping your captions clean and driving better engagement without cluttering your main message.

Which platform supports the First Comment feature

The First Comment feature is currently only available for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

Instagram

  • Instagram First Comment is only available for Instagram Business Profiles
  • First-comment on Instagram is only supported through the Instagram API publishing method .
  • Only a total of 30 hashtags can be used in the post caption and first comment. 

Facebook

  • The first comment can only be published on a Facebook group when a Facebook page is configured as a publishing method for the Group from Facebook account settings.
  • For Facebook, you can add a first comment for all allowed types of posts (that means text, images, and videos).

YouTube

  • All videos except 'Private' and 'Made for Kids' are available. (YouTube does not allow comments on private videos and automatically disables comments on 'Made for Kids' videos). 

LinkedIn

  • Available for both LinkedIn Profile and Page.
