Plan and schedule ahead
Ask Gemini to plan a week of posts and pick the times. Save them as drafts, add them to the queue, or schedule them with ContentStudio.
Connect ContentStudio to Gemini CLI, Google's terminal agent, with one MCP command or the ContentStudio CLI and skill. Then ask Gemini to draft, schedule, and approve posts across your social accounts from your terminal.

gemini mcp add --transport http contentstudio https://mcp.contentstudio.io/mcp # then, inside gemini/mcp auth contentstudioPublishes to:
Quick Reference
Core Capabilities
Gemini can write, schedule, and publish posts for every account connected to ContentStudio, attach media, run approvals, and report on results, all from the terminal you already work in.
Ask Gemini to plan a week of posts and pick the times. Save them as drafts, add them to the queue, or schedule them with ContentStudio.
Create images and videos for your posts from a prompt. The CLI also edits images: product shots, headshots, background removal, and upscaling.
Pull performance data for your posts and accounts, or generate a full analytics report, without opening a dashboard.
With the CLI and skill, Gemini can upload a screenshot or video from your project and attach it to a post.
Read and reply to messages, comments, and reviews across your connected networks, and tag or archive them.
Check what is waiting, approve or reject it, and leave feedback for your team.
List posts by draft, scheduled, or published status, and tweak or remove unpublished ones.
Add comments or internal notes to any post, no tab switching required.
Move between client workspaces and their campaigns, categories, and labels.
Setup
Three quick steps are all it takes to connect Gemini with ContentStudio and start scheduling your social media from your terminal.
Install the CLI globally with npm. This is what Gemini uses to talk to the ContentStudio API.
npm install -g contentstudio-cliInstall the skill file so Gemini knows every ContentStudio command, including analytics, inbox, and AI images. Gemini CLI picks it up from .agents/skills or ~/.gemini/skills.
npx skills add contentstudioio/contentstudio-agentGenerate an API key from Dashboard → Settings → API Keys, then use it to authenticate the ContentStudio CLI.
contentstudio auth:login --api-key cs_...Prefer the quickest setup? Add the ContentStudio MCP server with one command instead.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard Gemini CLI uses to call outside tools. One command adds the ContentStudio MCP server. Then sign in with your ContentStudio account. No API key needed.
gemini mcp add --transport http \
contentstudio https://mcp.contentstudio.io/mcp
# then, inside gemini
/mcp auth contentstudioUsing the integration
Anything you would ask a teammate. Name the channels, the timing, and the tone, and Gemini handles the rest through ContentStudio.
> Schedule a post to X and LinkedIn for tomorrow at 9 AM announcing the v2 release. Attach ./assets/release.png.
✓ Gemini uploads the image through the CLI and schedules both posts.
> Turn the changelog in CHANGELOG.md into a 4-part X thread and a LinkedIn post. Space them across this week.
✓ A thread and a post, spread across the week in your calendar.
> Read content/this-week.md and schedule each post to the account and time it names.
✓ Each post lands in your calendar on the account and time from the file.
> How did last week's posts perform, and which network did best?
✓ Performance for each network, with the strongest posts called out.
> Show me posts waiting for approval and approve the two about the new menu.
✓ The two you named approved, the rest left pending.
> Create an image for our webinar announcement and attach it to Thursday's LinkedIn post.
✓ Gemini runs images:generate, gets back a media ID, and attaches the image to the post.
Security & Trust
Secure sign-in, a scoped API key, and workspace-aware actions help keep every request Gemini makes through ContentStudio safe and transparent.
Standardized MCP connection: Gemini CLI reaches ContentStudio over the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that gives AI tools only the access they need.
Scoped API key: The CLI route uses a single cs_ API key that talks only to the ContentStudio public API. Revoke or replace it anytime without exposing your social account passwords.
No password sharing: The MCP route signs in with your ContentStudio account; your social media passwords never pass through Gemini.
Approvals stay in your control: Check what is waiting, approve or reject it, and leave feedback for your team before anything goes live.

Gemini CLI or Claude Code
Both are terminal agents, and both connect to ContentStudio the same two ways. Pick the one your team already uses.

Troubleshooting
Most issues come down to the MCP connection, the API key, or the wrong workspace.
Run /mcp to check the server. If it is listed but not signed in, run /mcp auth contentstudio. Restart Gemini after adding it.
Run /skills list. If ContentStudio is missing, install it again and pick Gemini CLI, then run /skills reload.
Run contentstudio auth:status. If has_api_key is false, run contentstudio auth:login --api-key cs_... with a key from Dashboard → Settings → API Keys.
Your key is missing or invalid. Generate a fresh one in the dashboard and run auth:login again.
The post, account, or file belongs to a different workspace. Check the active one with contentstudio workspaces:current.
The CLI retries automatically, up to 2 times with backoff. AI image and video generation never auto-retry, because they are billable. For big jobs, ask Gemini to work in smaller batches.
One account, one set of tools. Pick the agent you already work in, or browse all of them below.

Connect Gemini CLI with the ContentStudio CLI and skill or MCP server, and manage social content without leaving your terminal.
